What Will My Assessment Test My Knowledge On?
You will sit two assessment papers for your Summer KAP assessment. Each assessment is a full past GCSE paper and will test you on your understanding of the concepts studied so far during your time at BTA. The core concepts you will be tested on are listed below, but questions may draw on any content covered so far in Key Stage 3.
- Written methods of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of integers, fractions and decimals
- Using squares, square roots and higher powers
- Finding the nth term of a sequence
- Drawing and interpreting time series graphs
- Using angle facts to find missing angles in diagrams
- Understand how to simplify with ratio and share amounts in a given ratio
- Solve problems involving area of a circle, area of sector and length of an arc, including leaving answers in terms of pi
- Solve problems involving brackets, equations & inequalities including factorising and expanding brackets and solving simultaneous equations and changing the subject
- Mean, median, mode and range
- Pythagoras’ Theorem
- Work out probabilities and probability trees
- Combinations
- Interpret Venn diagrams and use Venn notation
- Direct and inverse proportion
- Circle theorems
- Trigonometry – Exact values, Sine rule, Cosine rule
- Linear graphs from a table of values and y = mx + c
- Solving quadratic equations, completing the square and drawing quadratic graphs
What Should I Do To Revise And Prepare For This Assessment?
To prepare for this assessment:
- Complete the revision booklet that will be provided from your class teacher
- Review the results from your check point assessments on go4schools and revisit the small steps for which you have weakness.
- Once you have diagnosed the topics with which you want to do further practice, use the search bar in the independent learning area within Sparx to access videos and practice tasks for those topics. You can practice questions and watch the supporting videos to help you. Once you have revised each topic, tick them off as completed on your list. Sparxmaths.uk/student
- Go through your workbooks and work through any topics again that you have identified weakness in
- Use the websites below to look up topics. Go and see your class teacher for support on anything you have been struggling with.
