Parental Information

Knowing and understanding how a school works is an essential part of the support that you can offer to your child to help them to thrive; regular communication is a key feature of the successful partnerships that we aim to foster. We hope that our website will guide you to a range of information but we also use the Parent Handbook as a useful reference point for parents to clarify details, especially for those students who are just joining us at their start of their Bluecoat Trent journey in Year 7.

Academy Lunch Menu

From September 2024 onwards, our menu prices will be as follows:

Breakfast – Free

Break time fresh fruit – Free

Two course lunch – £2.60

The menu can be found below and is updated twice an Academic year in November and Easter. Following feedback from students, staff and parents, we are delighted to announce that from September, students will be able buy an early lunch at break time, consisting of a freshly prepared baguette and home baked cookie as well as fresh fruit.

We have worked hard to avoid in year price increases;  however, the cost of raw ingredients has risen to such an extent that we have no choice but to pass on an element of this to parents in the new academic year. The two course lunch was £2.40 and is now £2.60. The meals will continue to be freshly prepared in our kitchens with a focus on fresh, seasonal sustainable ,ingredients, ensuring all students have access to a free portion of fresh fruit every day, so if you or your child does chose to eat with us they will be offered a balanced and nutritious meal.

Parents can be reassured that the maximum they will need to pay, per child, per day, is £2.60 for breakfast, a two-course lunch and some fruit, which we believe represents excellent value for money.  This also allows parents to manage their household budgets. To ensure that we are giving students a balanced meal, we don’t allow students to make additional purchases, or purchase puddings only. Students on free school meal will have full access and the same choices as all students, and our till systems mean that children are never identified as being in receipt of free school meals.

For comparison:

Two Course Lunch
Archway Schools £2.60
Derbyshire Council £3.55
Nottinghamshire Council £2.95
