Mock Exam Details

This will be completed in lesson time in addition to two formal sessions:
Session 1 – Monday 17 November 11.15am – 12.15pm
Session 2 – Friday 21 November 11.15am – 3.00pm
What Will My Assessment Test My Knowledge On?
- PurposeThe aim of Component 1 is to help students understand the processes, techniques, and creative intentions behind professional performance work.
Students explore how professional practitioners (theatre companies, choreographers, directors, etc.) create and develop performance pieces — and how different styles, genres, and influences shape the work.Component 1 assesses your ability to:
- Research and understand professional performing arts work
- Analyse and interpret artistic intention and style
- Apply performance skills practically
- Reflect critically on their own learning and development
What you are required to demonstrate:
- Explore professional repertoire – watch, research, and analyse at least three professional works from different practitioners or companies.
- Understand creative intentions and influences – learn why and how the practitioners create their work, what messages they want to communicate, and what inspires them.
- Investigate performance, production, and technical roles – find out what different people (performers, designers, directors, choreographers, technicians) do to bring a performance to life.
- Develop own practical understanding – take part in workshops and rehearsals inspired by the professional works studied.
