Our Tutor Time Curriculum
Personal Development is delivered by all staff through a well-structured tutor programme and across subject disciplines. Our educators are supported with ongoing professional development to ensure they can deliver this curriculum with confidence and care, fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all learners. Students have 30 minutes once a week dedicated to these topics, taught to them by their usual form tutor.

An overview of the topics covered here at Bluecoat Trent can be found below:
-
RSHE Session
– Students will engage with key themes from the statutory Relationships, Sex, and Health Education curriculum, as well as broader topics that support their personal development and well being.
-
Reading for Pleasure
– A dedicated time to build students’ fluency, confidence, and comprehension through structured reading activities and the use of school-wide reading strategies.
-
Careers Session
– A structured programme for students in Years 7–11 that provides insight into the world of work, including careers education, labour market information, financial literacy, and enterprise skills.
-
CARE Curriculum
– Focused on cultural awareness, shared values, and exploration of social, moral, spiritual, and cultural (SMSC) issues, this session connects students with national events, global themes, and community understanding.
