On Thursday 7th March the school celebrated World Book Day! We were privileged to have Candy Gourlay visit us to help us celebrate. All of Year 7 attended an assembly where Candy spoke about her award-winning novels, her inspirations, and why it is so important to embrace and champion identity and culture in her writing. Candy later delivered a fantastic workshop with 30 of our students on creative writing, describing their amazing setting for their story using a portal to a new world where the hero will go to begin his new journey and adventure to a new world.
Throughout the day, students got involved in a World Book Day Treasure Hunt; staff were wearing badges with clues on them that revealed a well-known character from a book! There will be prizes and House Points to the students who found all 30 clues. The day was packed with World Book Day quizzes, Library activities and most importantly: the power of reading.
